Cyclo Sportif - Swan Valley - Sunday, 30 June 2013

I know it is short notice (registration closes on Tuesday) but is there any interest in doing next Sunday's Cyclo Sportif?

I will be doing the Cyclo Sportif myself along with work colleagues (Team name: CFC Group - Wolf Pack A).

A team needs to comprise a minimum of 4 riders. See: Cyclo Sportif - Swan Valley - June 30

While I've never ridden in the Cyclo Sportif previously I have been to the WA Track Cycling Grand Prix a number of times and it is a great event.

The Cyclo Sportif finishes with lunch at the Velodrome and viewing of the Grand Prix.

If there is interest let me know and I'll register a "Ride_Group" team. Of course, those who would prefer can do it as an individual.

Meet 2010 World Track Cycling Champion - Sarah Kent - Sunday 7th July

Meet Champion Sarah Kent - Sunday 7th July

Come along and meet 2010 World Track Cycling Champion Sarah Kent. Sunday July 7th 12.30 to 2.30 at Dome 167 St Georges Tce, Perth.

Sarah will talk to us about her cycling trip which she Navigated 1500 kilometres of terrain through four African countries – with just a few camping supplies on the back of a bicycle - may be far from the racing track which saw Sarah Kent become a world champion. But she says it proved to be one of the most rewarding challenges in her career.

Her goal was to raise $13,000 to buy 100 new bikes for children who have no other mode of transport to access basics such as schools, hospitals and water supplies in their local community.

Ask her any cycling related questions and get your photo taken with Sarah. Cost is $5 each. This money will go to Sarah to pay for her time. Payment due on arrival to Cathi Dixon. Come and have lunch at Dome too. Toby has offered some of his cafe space to get this project up and running.

Please message me (Cathi Dixon) on facebook or phone or txt or email me that you are coming. Limited numbers so pedal pedal pedal and let me know ASAP. For more information contact Cathi on 0438 765 043 or Catherine.dixon4@hotmail.com.

Saturday June 15, 2013 - Roe Highway Jaunt

Ride Organiser: Robert Hind
Organiser's email: Robert@robert-hind.com
Organisers mobile tel: 0417 934 502
Ride style: Social
Ride type: Road
Terrain: Mainly flat
Estimated Distance:
60 kms?
Start Place: Maylands Railway Station, Narrows (Sth Side)
Start Time: 8:00 am, 8:30 am

It is some time since we've done the Roe Highway (bike path) jaunt.

Normally we would ride along the bike path to Orrong Road and then all the way back for a long and at times fast ride. This time Jenny has researched a different route so that we don't return all the way along the Roe Highway bike path.

From Orrong Road return on Roe Hwy path to Railway Pde exit. Follow railway to Oats St, then Oats/Gabriel to Abernethy, Fairbrother, Belgravia, Grandstand. Cross the river and follow the river via Maylands to East Perth, Causeway and Narrows.

We can stop at Tomato Lake in Oats St (have to check the menu first) or next to Tranby House or at East Perth in the inlet just south of the Windan Bridge.

Saturday June 8, 2013 - Two Valleys ride

Ride Organiser: Francis Vivier
Organiser's email: francis.vivier@iinet.net.au
Organiser's mobile telephone no: 0403 236 439
Ride style: Social
Terrain: Includes Hill Sections
Estimated Distance: 60 kms+
Start Point: Maylands
Start Time: 8:30 am

*** Please note - Francis is the Ride Organiser for this ride ***
*** please notify him if you're planning to join the ride ***

I propose to travel on the cycle path from Maylands to Bassendean, then through Guildford by the river. However this time we will come on the other side of the Guildford bridge to ride in some back streets of Guildford towards Hazelmere. Travel along Bushmead road, then Midland Rd to find Ridge Hill road. Yes there is a good hill there – apparently less painful than coming from the Helena Valley, and yes it will be hard for me.

Then Scott Street, Clayton Rd, to go under Gt Eastern Hwy to make our way though Swan View, to cycle a bit in the Swan Valley, via Toodyay Rd, Campersic Rd, then Lennard Street and Gt Northern Hwy for our coffee stop at the Coffee Hut.

Return trip via Barrett Street, to West Swan Rd, Benara Rd, Lord Street and finally join the cycle path in Bassendean to finish in Maylands.
